Volunteer Facilitators

We are looking for volunteers to join our team based across Calais and Dunkirk. Volunteers play a crucial role in the planning and delivery of our youth activities and sessions for displaced teenagers aged 12 to 18. As a small, grassroots organisation our volunteers also contribute to the day-to-day running of our project and have the opportunity to support and shape our work on an operational level.

We are looking for volunteers with passion for supporting teenagers aged 12 to 18. You will be instrumental in the facilitation of creative, practical and psychosocial activities and workshops for young people, helping them to exercise agency, build identity and mitigate the vast trauma they have experienced. As well as supporting the planning and delivery of our regular sessions, we would also welcome any specialist skills that you might like to share in the form of targeted workshops and sessions. Opportunities for skill-sharing and how we can best work together will be discussed in your interview.

As a volunteer, you will also be asked to contribute to day-to-day tasks to support with the running of our organisation, and we would welcome any additional skills or interest you may have in social media, fundraising, grant-writing, PR and networking - or anything else you might like to contribute!

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please follow the links below:

Due to the nature of this work we’re looking for people who are self motivated, excellent team players and able to commit to 6 weeks minimum. We can provide accommodation in our shared apartment for a contribution of €220 for 6 weeks. In some circumstances we can help with financial costs; this is on a case-by-case basis, so please contact us if you feel you may face a financial barrier to volunteering. Alternatively you may like to find your own accommodation through platforms such as Airbnb.

Volunteer Instructors

We are also in search of specialist facilitators to join us on a shorter-term, or more flexible basis, to develop specialist projects and workshops for the teenagers we work with. Previous projects have included interactive art installations, film-making and storyboarding and communication and conflict-management.

Examples of skillsets we would be interested in include graffiti artists, yoga instructors, musicians, carpenters, sports coaches and visual artists - but this list is by no means exhaustive, and if you think you could offer a specialist workshop to our young people we’d love to hear from you.

You will be supported by the Kaleidoscope team to develop your workshop or project in line with the context we work in, and the changing needs of the young people.

If you think you could facilitate workshops for us, or would like to discuss an idea further, we would love to hear from you!

Please send us an email: youthkaleidoscope@gmail.com or get in touch here.
